Terms of service

Effective October 12, 2026

These terms apply to worklightanswering.com and to the Worklight call answering service. Worklight Answering is a trade name of Porchlight Answering LLC, a Utah limited liability company ("Worklight," "we," "us"). By using the site or the service, you agree to these terms. If you buy a plan, the service agreement you accept at checkout also applies, and it controls if it differs from these terms.

The service

Worklight answers calls forwarded from your business line using an automated assistant, collects the caller's details, books jobs on your calendar where you've connected one, transfers urgent calls to the number you choose and texts you each lead. We set the service up for your trade using the information you give us and tune it over time.

  • Not an emergency service. Worklight does not replace 911, gas utilities or other emergency services. When a caller describes a gas smell, carbon monoxide alarm, burning electrical smell or flooding, the assistant tells them to get to safety and call 911 or the gas utility, then transfers the call to you.
  • No repair advice or firm quotes. The assistant does not give repair advice. It shares only the price ranges you approve, never firm quotes.
  • Automated and disclosed. The assistant tells callers it is automated. It can misunderstand callers or make mistakes; review your leads and call records and tell us about anything that needs fixing.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate information about your services, service area, hours, prices and emergency rules, and tell us when it changes.
  • Set up and keep call forwarding on your phone line. You keep ownership of your phone number.
  • Follow the laws that apply to your business, including call recording notice and consent rules and texting consent rules for your own customers.
  • Keep your account details private and tell us right away if you think someone else is using them.
  • Don't use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive or harassing, or to contact people who haven't agreed to be contacted.

Plans, fees and cancellation

  • Each plan has a one-time setup fee and a monthly fee, shown at checkout. The setup fee is due at sign-up and is non-refundable once your line is live.
  • Monthly fees are billed in advance by card or ACH autopay. Minutes over your plan's included minutes are billed the following month at the rate shown at checkout.
  • Plans are month to month. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice by email.
  • Guarantee: if your line doesn't capture at least 3 real leads (a named caller with a number and a job request) in your first 30 days, your second month is free.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. Changes don't apply to a month you've already paid for.

Your data

You own your phone number and your customer data, including call recordings, transcripts and leads. We use them only to provide and improve the service for you, as described in our privacy policy. When you cancel, you can ask for an export of your leads before we delete your records.

Text messages

Texts we send are covered by our SMS terms. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time.

Availability and third parties

We work to keep your line answered at all times, but the service depends on phone carriers and providers we don't control, and it may occasionally be interrupted. If your line goes down, we will text you and work to restore it. Calls forwarded during an outage may go to voicemail or ring through to you, depending on your forwarding setup.

Disclaimers

Except as stated in these terms and your service agreement, the service is provided "as is." We do not promise a specific number of leads, bookings or revenue, apart from the guarantee above.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Worklight is not liable for lost profits, lost jobs or indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.

Indemnity

You agree to cover claims brought against us that arise from information you gave us, from your own messages to your customers, or from your breach of these terms or the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah.

Changes

We may update these terms and will post changes on this page with a new effective date. Material changes for paying customers take effect 30 days after we notify you by email.
