Privacy policy

Effective October 12, 2026

Worklight Answering is a trade name of Porchlight Answering LLC, a Utah limited liability company based in Sandy, Utah ("Worklight," "we," "us"). We answer phone calls for local trades businesses, book jobs and send the business owner the details by text and email. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have.

Text messaging: We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers, text messaging opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The only companies that receive this information are the service providers that deliver our messages for us, as described below.

Who this covers

  • Business customers: the trades businesses that sign up for Worklight, and the people who work for them.
  • Callers: people who call a business that uses Worklight to answer its phone.
  • Website visitors and prospects: people who visit worklightanswering.com, email us, call us or ask us to text them.

Information we collect

  • From business customers: name, business name, phone numbers, email address, mailing address, the services you offer, service area, hours, approved price ranges, emergency rules, the number we transfer calls to and, if you connect it, access to your calendar so we can book jobs. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • From callers: the caller's phone number, the call audio, a recording and transcript of the call, and the details the caller gives, such as name, address and the job they need done. We collect this on behalf of the business the caller dialed.
  • Text messaging records: the phone number, the messages sent and received, and a record of how and when consent to receive texts was given (date, time and method).
  • Website: our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the site. We do not use advertising trackers on this site.

How we use it

  • To answer calls, book jobs and transfer emergencies for our business customers.
  • To text and email business owners their new leads, weekly reports and account notices.
  • To reply to people who contact us, including texting the demo line number or a sign-up link when someone asks for it.
  • To bill for the service and provide support.
  • To review calls and improve how the service answers for each business.
  • To meet legal obligations and protect against fraud and abuse.

Automated answering and call recording

Calls are answered by an automated assistant that says it is automated at the start of the call. Calls may be recorded and transcribed so the business can see what the caller needed and so we can improve the service. Our business customers are responsible for any notices their own customers need about call recording under the laws that apply to them.

Who we share it with

  • The business you called: callers' details and call records go to the business whose line they called. That business controls how it uses them.
  • Service providers that run parts of the service for us, under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing those services: our voice platform (Retell AI), our phone and text provider (Twilio), our email provider (Google Workspace), our payment processor (Stripe) and our website host (Cloudflare).
  • Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers, callers or the public.
  • Business transfers: if our business is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell personal information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver our messages.

How long we keep it

We keep call recordings, transcripts and lead records while the business customer's account is active, unless the business asks us to delete them sooner. We delete them within 90 days after an account closes, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Records of text messaging consent and opt-outs are kept as long as needed to honor them and show compliance.

How we protect it

We use reputable providers with encryption in transit, limit access to the people who need it, and protect accounts with strong passwords and two-step sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected customers promptly if we learn of a breach that affects their information.

Your choices

  • Texts: reply STOP to any text from us to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help. See our SMS terms.
  • Email: every marketing email from us includes a way to opt out.
  • Access and deletion: email us to ask what information we hold about you or to ask us to delete it. If you called a business that uses Worklight, we will pass your request to that business, since it controls those records.

Children

Our service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use text messaging information, we will tell business customers before it takes effect.
